On October 2, 2003, Apollo Forest Products Ltd. (AFP) contracted 3LOG to implement LIMS and WeighWizBC at their site located in Fort St. James, British Columbia.
The LIMS solution was selected because it is built on a flexible framework that is easily modified to user specifications. LIMS provides a secure multi-user environment that is implemented in a true client-server fashion. The heart of the AFP system is an Oracle database that is running on a Windows-based server. The client application connects to this database using either the company LAN/WAN or VPN.
Another important feature of LIMS is the reporting functionality that is capable of revealing valuable information about business operations. The ability to specify custom reports allows personnel to see the information they need in ‘real-time’ so that they can make well-informed decisions in a more efficient fashion. The key to the reporting system is to have information in the database. The WeighWizBC application performs the function of importing load information into the system. This BC specific un-manned weigh scale solution is capable of communicating with the new Harvest Billing System Internet site.
AFP will have a log information system capable of storing contract, load and inventory information while allowing users to view this information in user-friendly reports format. When the system is completed, AFP will benefit from the productivity gains by doing business in a more efficient manner.
