Log Inventory Management System (LIMS) went live at the Nekoosa and Weirgor mills of Domtar’s Wisconsin operation on January 1st, 2004.
Domtar, Wisconsin’s efficient IT infrastructure requires their upper management to see the real picture in the sea of data. This is all made possible by centralizing the database with LIMS.
The development of the LIMS application was structured around a detailed requirements analysis performed by one of our professional systems analysts. A new contract approval system was one of the major additional features that was requested and delivered during the implementation phase. This feature introduces a method to control changes made to important contract and pricing information. Users that are part of a chain of approval will be notified by email so that they can either accept or reject the change. The result is that no unauthorized changes can be made and downtime caused by the delayed response of managers has been greatly reduced, which allows daily business to operate more efficiently.
At this point, we are working closely with the users to ensure that they are familiar with various features. There is a constant line of communication between 3LOG staff and Wisconsin operation users to ensure that any questions are answered in a timely fashion. At 3LOG, we not only pride ourselves in creating quality software, we also care about providing the best customer support possible.
