Western Forest Products goes with 3LOG software

Richmond, BC, Canada — September 15, 2006 — Following its successful acquisition of Cascadia Forest Products Ltd., Western Forest Products Inc. (TSX: WEF) will roll out 3LOG software throughout its British Columbia operations.

Western is a Canadian forest products company whose activities include timber harvesting, reforestation, sawmilling logs into lumber and wood chips, and value-added remanufacturing. Western’s employees and corporate facilities are located in the coastal region of British Columbia. Its products are sold in over 20 countries worldwide.

WFP chose 3LOG’s LIMS software as a result of its decision to integrate its operations with those of Cascadia. The acquired company was already a LIMS user. Following an information technology review, WFP selected 3LOG’s LIMS to become its new corporate-wide standard.

The company will now use LIMS to manage all its booms and transportation in western Canada. LIMS will also handle WFP’s HBS (Harvest Billing System) requirements. Expected go-live date is late 2006.

LIMS is state-of-the-art software that manages the entire cycle of silviculture, harvesting, hauling, processing and selling logs and related by-products. The functionality required to support all these business activities is provided by a single application. The system stores enterprise-wide data in one database, so that real-time information about business operations is constantly available to company management. Authorized users can build and run ad-hoc queries and reports using features built in to LIMS without the need for external reporting tools.

3LOG Systems Inc. is a privately-held software house based in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
