Manager Modules in LIMS

LIMS consists of several integrated manager modules, with an additional interface to 3LOG’s external weigh scale software. The manager modules handle groups of related business functions.

Configuration Manager

The Configuration Manager allows users to define company and division defaults, scale information, yard and deck information, and so on. It provides clients with the ability to configure LIMS to their standards and procedures, meaning that clients will not have to make time-consuming adjustments to operational and accounting practices dictated by inflexible software. LIMS will adapt to fit your business routines and practices.

Timber Manager

The Timber Manager sets up the timberlands or woodlands descriptions in terms of legal descriptions, approval areas, blocks, setup numbers, species, and so on. Each harvest area is then associated with different contracts and obligations in the Contract Manager. The Timber Manager also defines a product’s attributes and ensures that the company does not exceed its specified annual harvest quota without warning.

Contract Manager

The Contract Manager stores and manages detailed information about contractors, different types of contracts, vendors, customers, sales and purchasing information, etc. It handles contracts with suppliers, contractors, haulers, and customers. Working in conjunction with other modules in LIMS, the Contract Manager allows you to payments against signed contracts, track contractor performance, or even enforce penalty clauses (e.g. overweight penalties). LIMS tracks each log from its source to destination. Based on species tables and your rates, stumpage payments are made accurately. The system can also transfer data to your state’s or province’s governing agencies.

Delivery Manager

The Delivery Manager deals with load and sample information for logs, chips, wood fiber, and so on. This information can be imported from external weigh scale software. The verification of loads can be performed by the Loads sub-module. Verified loads can then be paid for using the Settlement Manager. The tracking of load source, unit, and contractor can also be done using the Ticket Tracker in the Delivery Manager.

Inventory Manager

The Inventory Manager keeps track of the entire inventory stored at destinations, yards, and scales. It is typically used to hold inventory data of logs that have passed a company’s weigh scale. However, with added functionality, it can easily handle the “bush scaled” camp inventory. It is able to associate contract payment advances with the movement of log volume from one product type to another within the camp inventory. Using the Virtual Yard sub-module of the Inventory Manager, LIMS tracks the entire inventory to its source (i.e. setup number) and identifies which contractors had a part in bringing a particular load to the mill. Inter-company wood transfers can also be tracked to their origins including the initial approval area and block.

Settlement Manager

The Settlement Manager is designed to track financial obligations and invoices, and settles payments. All of the company’s transactions and invoices associated with woodlands operations pass through this system, regardless of their type. It can generate settlement for timber, log, and chip purchasing, harvest, and hauling. For sales deliveries to your customers, LIMS can also apply and reconcile incoming checks.
