3LOG Systems Inc. has successfully completed the implementation
and integration of its LIMS and Weigh Station at Vaagen Brothers
Lumber Company in Washington. The System responds to Vaagen Brothers
Lumber’s requirements for an integrated weigh station and
inventory management system. 3LOG Systems has provided Vaagen Brothers
Lumber with an integrated inventory management system that will
make its operation smooth and cost-effective.
The new LIMS system will not just replace the company’s
existing system, but will improve on business processes, where possible,
and add custom features for Vaagen Brothers in a generic way, so
that it is adaptable for future business changes. 3LOG personnel
took the necessary steps to ensure that the customized LIMS system
meets the strategic objectives of Vaagen Brothers.
LIMS and WeighWiz provide Vaagen Brothers Lumber with
an integrated solution. Faster decisions are possible with load
delivery information immediately available at the desktop. With
Oracle synchronization, we easily tie WeighWiz and LIMS together.
Vital data flows and Vaagen Brother’s personnel would be able
to immediately connect to it. Automatic import of external sawmill
load records decreases the manual effort. User written reports,
on-line data extraction, Microsoft Excel and HTML data export puts
the data in the hands of personnel on a timely basis. Integration
with the Great Plains Financial system provides a one-stop turnkey
solution, with all the control and efficiency that Vaagen Brothers
Lumber needs.
WeighWiz is an approved system for managing weigh station
operations. The input screens are efficient and quick to use. WeighWiz
captures data in real time mode, while the load is on a scale. This
prevents errors caused by driver ‘rocking’ or ‘holding
back’, and audits inappropriate driver activity. WeighWiz
works with or without a weigh station attendant in manned or unmanned
mode.
The WeighWiz software design allows it to meet the expectations
of proper auditing and reporting procedures. Multi-level password
security ensures that only authorized users will have access to
the central weigh data, while allowing truck drivers to interface
during the weigh-in process. The system provides all of the auto-tare
control and sampling functions required, without modification.
