Grant Forest Products wants 3LOG’s WeighWiz
(WeighScale Software)
December 2000
3LOG Systems Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia, is
pleased to announce the commencement of WEIGHWIZ Software implementation
for Grant Forest Products.
Grant Forest Products installed LIMS last year and is
pleased with our system and services. Because of LIMS’ efficiency,
Grant Forest Products like to continue the achievement of a better
return on its assets. Further utilizing the full benefits of our
products is the next step - implementing 3LOG’s WEIGHWIZ software.
WEIGHWIZ Software automatically captures the true weight
of the load as it passes over the scales. This accuracy is especially
useful in remote areas and during off-peak times, situations where
a weigh master may not be present. Data and information are found
in WEIGHWIZ such as the load’s destination, ticket number,
in/out date and time, in/out weigh, truck ID and configuration,
and etc. By simply establishing the payment method (e.g. $/ton,
$/kg) in the contract description, LIMS can easily make automatic
payment and GL account updates for any weighable materials consumed.
Similar to the way the process of purchasing wood is handled, a
truck that carries mill chemicals would crosses the scale on the
way into the mill and weighs out empty upon departure. Using the
truck ID number entered by the driver at the scale, WEIGHWIZ and
LIMS would check on which contract to make payment for and at which
paying rate the payment is calculated.
When WEIGHWIZ is linked to LIMS, the data is transferred
to the central LIMS system from each WEIGHWIZ module via modem,
diskette, or network connection. The goal is to provide seamless
data transfer from WEIGHWIZ to LIMS for optimization and planning
applications, to provide a high return-on-investment for users.
After all, no one wants to enter data twice.
Grant Forest Products owns the $300-million OSB mill
in Englehart, and the company purchased a mill in Timmins a year
ago for roughly $170 million. Grant Forest Products owns a large
percentage of British Columbia-based Ainsworth Lumber Company Ltd.,
and is a joint venture partner of an OBS plant, Footner Forest Products,
in High Level, Alberta.
