3LOG Systems has signed a project agreement
with J. M. Longyear in Marquette, Michigan
November 1999
3LOG Systems Inc. has already signed a project agreement
with J. M. Longyear, a forestry and mining company in Marquette,
Michigan. J.M. Longyear’s focus on Integrated Management,
Central Networking and Accountability leads to the search for a
comprehensive solution -- LIMS. LIMS combines the various woodlands
department operating and reporting systems together under a unified
database. This has allowed for a measurable amount of savings in
management versus dealing with piece-meal reports. Furthermore,
Central control is maintained through a central system of reporting,
giving managers the ability to see all of the operations either
as individual units or as combined pieces of a larger enterprise.
The two-way flow of information allows for monitoring of inventory,
production, and payment to and from remote camp computers. In accountability,
LIMS is designed to meet the expectations of proper auditing procedures
and reporting. One system of reporting saves time and money by ensuring
all financial obligations are met on a timely basis, with proper
reconciliation.
The LIMS requirement modeling will begin this
month and will last in two weeks. Initial installation will begin
in December, and the rest of the project including customization,
documentation and training will continue in the next year. The expected
finish date will be on April of 2000, depending on J.M. Longyear’s
LIMS functional specifications.
