LIMS will go LIVE in West Fraser Timber Co,
Louisiana and Arkansas
November 2000
3LOG Systems Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia,
is pleased to announce the commencement of LIMS 4 (Log Inventory & Management)
implementation for West Fraser Timber Company’s newest
acquisition in the Southern United States.
West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. (TSE: WFT) and Plum Creek
Timber Company, Inc. (NYSE: PCL) today (October 10, 2000) announced
an agreement for West Fraser to acquire Plum Creek’s Southern
lumber manufacturing operations in Joyce, Louisiana and Huttig,
Arkansas for US$60 million plus working capital. The two mills have
the capacity to produce 300 million board feet of lumber per year.
And West Fraser plans to expand the facility to increase overall
capacity to 400 million board feet.
Like many other versions of LIMS, the customized LIMS
of West Fraser’s Southern U.S. Operations will have a Reports
Wizard. Using Report Wizard, managers and controllers are able to
view operational reports at real-time, respond quickly to challenges,
and make wiser decisions in cost control.
Without batches to post, LIMS uses a run-time report
generator to provide users with accurate, easy-to-read reports on
demand. With a click of the mouse, report criteria such as dates
and timber sources are easily established before the report is displayed
or printed. Within minutes, users can generate customized reports
from LIMS' variety of report templates. A simple pop-up display
will appear if the LIMS user chooses to export or email any system
report. The Reports Wizard feature frees up time for timberlands
personnel to focus on core business and analysis.
West Fraser is one of Canada’s largest integrated
