Grant Forest Products Inc. has signed a contract
with 3LOG Systems to replace its old system with LIMS
July 1999
Our newest client, Grant Forest Products Inc. plans
to replace its old system with LIMS. The contract has been signed
and the project will start soon, probably in September. It will
take approximately three months for complete customization, installation,
system testing, and employee training. The system will be designed
to work with GFP’s external system interface and hence, GFP’s
remote scalers can use it by March 2000. LIMS has the capability
to integrate with GIS and GPS systems. This integration makes LIMS
a very powerful Woodlands tool, with immediate benefits to woodlands
operations by automatically receiving cut permits, updating expected
harvest volume, automatically updating harvest volumes, updating
harvest plan, determining cut control and compliance and maintaining
government quotas.
At the beginning of November 1999, training sessions
will be provided for GFP employees. Training LIMS users would be
performed at Grant’s preference location, with group size
being established based on the understanding that smaller groups
(about 10 per session) tend to learn faster.
Besides LIMS, the WeighWiz program will also be customized
and installed for GFP. The installation and customization will follow
after the completion of LIMS.
