Ainsworth as our new client became our new
client on March 1999
March 1999
It is 3LOG Systems’ pride to announce
that Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd has been our client since the
beginning of March. This
45-year-old company would like to implement LIMS in its divisions.
LIMS is a powerful tool for Ainsworth to deal with the challenges
of managing Multi-Divisional data, paying contractors by multiple
unit conversions, reporting progress and inventory. LIMS is able
to handle multiple operations with different parameters like
coastal vs. interior, and inter-provincial or inter-state. LIMS
tracks all costs accurately and in detail. The system allows
multiple contracts and projects, unlimited species and units
of measure, and any number of vendors and business rules. Payments
and invoicing data are available at real-time. LIMS on-the-fly
reporting gives managers the ability to recognize and correct
operational inefficiencies on a daily basis, rather than having
to wait for weekly or monthly reports from the control centers.
When LIMS needs to track customers, orders, suppliers, or employees,
an effective database can increase efficiency and information
response time, enabling the LIMS modules to be cost effective
and more productive. Automating day to day routines, financial
reports, administrative tasks, ordering procedures, client information
or scheduling procedures can save time for organizing data and
yield more time to your focus on your core business.
The Fit Analysis and preparation of the Detailed Functional
Specification have begun with four divisions of Ainsworth in
British Columbia and Alberta. The project will start on April
and last for three or four months, depending on Ainsworth’s
LIMS requirements. As customization of the system approaches
the end, implementation and on-site training will be provided.
In addition to training, LIMS contains several features designed
to aid in the learning process. For example, the Navigation
Bar contains easy-to-remember visual graphical icons for different
operations within a LIMS browser. These icons are “smart” because
they can tell users whether their functions are available by
changing colours. If the functions are unavailable during the
moment, the Navigation Bar icons will be grayed; otherwise,
they will return to their original colours in their “clickable” states.
Other components in LIMS such as required and read-only fields
are filled with different colours for differentiation. In general,
LIMS makes use of any visual aids that can help in making a
fast learning process for its users. If users are familiar
with Windows, then they can familiarize themselves with the
environment of LIMS easily and shortly.
