NEWS RELEASE
CIMS implementation has gone live at American Fiber Resources
and Great Lakes Pulp & Fibre
March 2004
On December 1, 2003, American Fiber Resources (AFR) and Great Lakes Pulp & Fibre (GLPF)
decided to go with 3LOG’s Commodity Inventory Management System (CIMS) to improve upon the
existing processes used during the procurement of raw materials. In March, CIMS has gone
live and is currently operational at both mill locations.
CIMS was carefully designed to meet the unique needs of AFR and GLPF who specialize in
making high quality de-inked recycled market pulp. CIMS is capable of tracking the
procurement of mixed office waste as well as the chemicals used in the production of the
recycled pulp. It is also capable of sending financial information stored in a Microsoft
SQL Server database to a Oracle Financial accounting system. The capability of CIMS to
interface with 3rd party accounting systems is due to the flexibility provided by its design.
We are currently providing support to users at both the AFR and GLPF mills in
order to make sure that they are using CIMS to its full capability.
