Longview Fibre Company has chosen Log Inventory
Management Systems (LIMS) of 3LOG Systems Inc.
March 2003
Longview Fibre has been in the process of selecting
an ERP package. The ERP vendors under final consideration were SAP
and JD Edwards. Longview understands that the ERP would not support
all of its needs for its Fibre Timber and Fibre Supply divisions.
Longview has intended to find a software package in order to accommodate
the functionality gap between what these business units require
and what can be provided through the ERP solution.
3LOG Systems Inc. presented a review of the LIMS system
to Longview personnel and the requirements analysis of Longview’s
woodlands system is performed using 3LOG's LIMS Functionalities.
Through this process, 3LOG determined the resources required to
satisfy Longview's business requirements and presented the company
with a well structured, mature and customizable solution—LIMS
Inventory Management System.
The LIMS’ Delivery Manager Module is responsible
for interfacing with 3LOG's WeighWiz and other weights capture software,
to receive log delivery information from any of our clients’
weigh scale locations. It accepts scaled wood data from a number
of sources: sample scales, piece scales and other bush scales. Once
the Delivery Manager receives load data from WeighWiz, that information
is distributed to the other LIMS modules as required.
The LIMS' Inventory Manager Module is typically used
to hold inventory data of logs that have been across a company weigh
scale. It also keeps track of the entire inventory that has not
yet been "weigh scaled" but has been "bush scaled"
by staff in the field. The Inventory Manager can easily handle the
"bush scaled" camp inventory with the added functionality
of being able to associate contract payment advances with the movement
of log volume from one product type to another within the camp inventory.
