Millar Western Forest Products purchases
WeighWiz to complement its previously implemented LIMS
March 2001
After successful implementation of LIMS, Millar Western
has purchased 3LOG’s WeighWiz to fully automate its scale
house operations in Whitecourt and Boyle, Alberta.
Millar Western has been active in the forest products industry for
close to a century, growing steadily to become one of Western Canada’s
largest privately owned forest products companies. Millar Western
owns and operates three production facilities in the province of
Alberta: a BCTMP mill and sawmill at an integrated complex in Whitecourt,
and a sawmill in Boyle. Millar Western directly employs 750 full-time
employees as well as hundreds of seasonal contract employees involved
in forest management activities
WeighWiz can be configured to operate in manual or un-manned
mode by truckers using smart card technology (paperless Waybill).
Using the advanced replication features of LIMS, WeighWiz can operate
in stand-alone mode in case of network failure and synchronize with
LIMS as soon as connection is established.
