Aldata's Yard boss is replaced with 3LOG’s
LIMS at Alberta Plywood
February 2001
3LOG Systems Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia, is
pleased to announce that West Fraser Timber have purchased LIMS
and WeighWiz to replace Aldata's Yard boss in its newly acquired
operations in Alberta. West Fraser acquired the plywood plant, a
veneer plant and a stud lumber mill located in Alberta from Zeidler
Forest Industries Ltd.
Bert Larocque, Alberta Plywood's Woodlands Operations
Superintendent says, “LIMS is a proven technology which has
been in use at our Slave Lake Pulp mill for three years and has
proven tremendous value. We compared the functionality and flexibility
of LIMS with Yardboss and it was an easy decision, add to that the
advantages of LIMS being a product rather than a custom solution,
it just made sense. Yardboss, would not allow us to make any ad
hoc reports or queries and our business is too dynamic to rely on
software supplier for simple reports!”
As part of this implementation, 3LOG will also upgrade
Slave Lake Pulp's WeighWiz to the latest version such that it will
be consistent with Alberta Plywood. WeighWiz will be configured
to operate in un-manned mode by truckers using smart card technology
(paperless Waybill). Using the advanced replication features of
LIMS, WeighWiz can operate in stand-alone mode in case of network
failure and synchronize with LIMS as soon as connection is established.
