3LOG Systems has installed and granted the
use of its WeighWiz software package to Athabasca Northern Railway
Ltd in Alberta, Canada

Athabasca Northern Railway Ltd in Alberta, Canada has
selected 3LOG Systems’ WeighWiz as its weigh scale management
system. WeighWiz was installed at two permanent Athabasca Northern
scale sites.
The system’s clean user interface, data integrity,
and its seamless integration with Alberta Pacific Forest Industries’
systems will improve the company’s productivity. WeighWiz
needed some customization to support Athabasca Northern Railway’
business requirements. It was enhanced to process sample loads for
Alpac. It was also modified to synchronize remotely over a low bandwidth
(cellular) connection.
3LOG Systems Inc. worked with Athabasca Northern consultants
to install and test WeighWiz in preparation for integration with
Alpac’s new Woodlands Information System. WeighWiz was configured
with the scale hardware and Oracle database. Data was synchronized
with Alpac and staff was trained in their remote locations to use
the new system.
About Athabasca Northern Railway Ltd
Athabasca Northern Railway Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Cando Contracting Ltd. Formed in October 2000, it operates 325
kilometres (200 miles) of track between Boyle and Fort McMurray
AB. In October 2002, Athabasca Northern signed a contract with Alpac
to transport pulpwood by train. About 20% of Alpac’s wood
now gets delivered to remote log terminals where the trucks are
weighed using the WeighWiz software. The Athabasca Northern Railway
Ltd is the third railway operated by Cando.
