NEWS RELEASE

Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. has become our millennium client

January 2000

RICHMOND, B.C. – 3LOG Systems is pleased to make an agreement with Millar Western Forest Products Ltd on December, 1999, as the beginning of our first project in the next millennium. The new LIMS project has been started on January 2000, and may end on late April 2000, depending on Millar Western functional specifications. Recently, we have discussed about the sub modules of LIMS with Millar personnel. Millar’s personnel is happy to find that most original LIMS features meet its firm’s requirements, while the Bushscale Payments and Load Payment Managers will need customizations. Millar has already sent us their needs in bushscale reconciliation, hauling, loading, logging, wood purchase, and timber sales. In addition, Millar has been looking for a multi-division system that can work in different company divisions. 3LOG meets all Millar’s needs because LIMS is able to handle multiple operations with different parameters like coastal vs. interior, and inter-provincial or inter-state. LIMS is highly scalable. Some of our clients have the system set up with a central database, with all of their divisions combined under one central reporting system to a corporate head office. Other clients have their woodlands operations treated as a single entity with its applied rules of business, having a stand-alone managed database.

Because Millar’s requirements meet most LIMS features, we will spend approximately one and a half month on customization. The customization process includes display and reports, user manuals and on-line help, enhancement in LIMS for handling bushscale rate adjustments, self-loading enhancements, hand-held interface, and financial interface. An on-site implementation will be performed after customizations. Afterwards, we will provide Millar a period of user training sessions to familiarize its employees with LIMS.

Besides LIMS, Millar would also like to purchase the WeighWiz software for its sites at Whitecourt and Boyle. Site licenses were granted as soon as the project started. 3LOG’s WeighWiz software is a weight data collection system designed for truck drivers or weigh-masters. This program captures the true weight of the load automatically as it passes over the scales. This accuracy is especially useful in remote areas and during off-peak times when there is no weigh-master available. The cost benefits can be seen in the accuracy of data capture, errorless entry and integration with remote operations.

About Millar Western Forest Products Ltd:

Millar Western built its first pulp mill at Whitecourt, Alberta, in 1988, producing bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) that is highly in demand in Europe, Asia and North America. Later, another BCTMP mill opened at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, which produces an average of 710 tons of pulp per day. Millar’s products also include dimension lumber and value-added wood products. However, its major product, BCTMP is recognized the best for fine printing paper, specialty papers, tissues and toweling, and paperboard.
